Mental health Monday
This guy was allegedly lurking in the bushes at Motel a Lago with an assault weapon which he did not fire. He was four hundred yards away from where Trump was playing. The Secret Service shot at him and he was arrested nearby. He may have thought he was doing something to help Ukraine. Who knows what he thought? Unless Florida has repealed its "open carry" law, he may be guilty of nothing more than trespass.
Trump's explanation is simplicity itself: "He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris and he acted on it. Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country and they are the ones that are destroying the country both from the inside and out. They use highly inflammatory language. I can use it too, far better than they can, but I don't." He has never used highly inflammatory language about deportation being "a bloody story." That was another obese clown painted orange who goes around impersonating him.
Elon Musk decided to follow that up with a joke of his own. As you can see, the pasty coward promptly deleted it.Trump had earlier posted "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" because he is the world's oldest toddler, but he failed to notice that Ben Stiller also endorsed Kamala Harris. It was pointed out by Wayne Allyn Root, one of his emotional support animals, in a long post about Jews who support Harris: "I am a Jew. Just like Ben Stiller, the Hollywood actor who released a video supporting Kamala Harris. I'm embarrassed and ashamed that any Jew could support Kamala Harris." He goes on to compare Stiller to a "suicide bomber" and accuse him of wanting America to "mimic 1930s Nazi Germany." (Technically Ben Stiller, whose mother was Anne Meara, is not Jewish. Just saying.) I'm certain Root is neither embarrassed nor ashamed because that would require him to have a conscience.
Within minutes Trump was monetizing the "assassination attempt" by blaming it on "Communist Left Rhetoric" (his new favorite word) and assuring the mouth breathers that "I AM SAFE AND WELL!" Surprisingly, he missed a chance to blame one of the cat-eating Haitians that only he can see. In response to his Swift-hating outburst $40,000 was raised for the Harris-Walz campaign, so he clearly has not lost his touch.
On CNN J.D. Vance acknowledged -- no, bragged -- that he and Trump "create stories" about the nefarious activities of immigrants to force the media to focus on the "suffering" of the American people. According to Vance they wouldn't have to lie their asses off if media weren't "letting Kamala Harris coast." Nothing is ever their fault. Nor do they much care about the suffering of people in Springfield when elementary schools are locked down, a hospital gets bomb threats and government offices can't issue drivers licenses. They can be especially proud that Springfield's annual CultureFest has been cancelled over the safety of attendees, vendors, volunteers and staff. Not much of an emotional or economic hit at all. This is for your own good, Springfield.
The fear seems to be that other struggling Rust Belt cities will learn the truth about how Springfield has benefited from the influx of Haitians and want some hard-working migrants of their own. The white nationalists wouldn't like that and neither would the governments of places like Hungary, where their rule depends on demonizing "them" -- people from Gaza, Syria, Afghanistan, anyplace brutal rulers and unceasing violence make life intolerable. There is much more at stake than a few cats and geese. How is the far right in Germany or the UK supposed to win elections if people are not afraid? They're lucky the Trumps and Vances (and Farages and LePens) are around to expand anxiety into hatred. I can see why Elon "Apartheid" Musk bought Twitter and doesn't care how much money it loses for him.
Perhaps inspired by Vance, Margie Greene also confessed to spreading fertilizer. In support of her claim that Kamala Harris was given the questions before the debate, she reported that her source, an ABC "whistleblower," had died in a mysterious car crash. She now admits that she got the story from someone's blog. The car crash story -- she's sticking with the "Kamala was coached" lie.
Trump may not realize that Florida has an even larger Haitian community than Ohio. I'm pretty sure basketball is not his game, but he may glimpse this message from the Miami Heat:
The "shut up and play" crowd will not be pleased. If you're confused by an "I HATE SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN!" post, it's because the magazine has endorsed a presidential candidate for the second time in 179 years. (They don't say who the last one was.) It's not the one who says climate change is a hoax, mismanaged the covid pandemic, opposes sane gun laws, promises to replace the competent in the federal government with the personally loyal and loves the poorly educated. It's Kamala Harris.
Nicky Jam did not care for the way Trump introduced him in Las Vegas ("She's hot!") and has deleted the post endorsing him. I'll bet his friends teased him.
When you think Supreme Court corruption you probably think of Thomas's RV and Alito's concert tickets, but John Roberts's scumminess is less materialistic and more damaging to democracy. In memos leaked to the New York Times he can be seen pushing the "presidential immunity" case as well as softening the punishment of the January 6 coup plotters and setting aside the Fourteenth Amendment prohibition on an insurrectionist running for federal office (as long as it's Trump). How long since a SCOTUS justice has been impeached?
A basic feature of fascism is spying on your neighbors. Semi-literate Portage County (Ohio) sheriff Bruce Zuchowski, an obvious admirer of Greg Abbott, wrote on Facebook, "When people ask me...what's gonna happen if the Flip-Flopping, Laughing Hyena Wins?? I say...write down all the addresses of the people who had her signs in their yards! Sooo...when the Illegal human 'Locust' (which she supports!) Need places to live...We'll already have the addresses of their New families...who supported their arrival!" Sheriff, I'd rather live with actual locusts than a hemorrhoid like you.
By way of palate cleansing I link to the words of Springfield resident Nathan Clark. A school bus crash caused by a Haitian immigrant killed his eleven-year-old son Aiden and the Usual Suspects pounced on the tragedy to reinforce their program of demonizing all immigrants. "I wish that my son Aiden Clark was killed by a sixty-year-old white man...if that guy killed my eleven-year-old son, the incessant group of hate-spewing people would leave us alone..." Read it all, and then know that Dana Bash on CNN gave Vance an opportunity to retract his hate-spewing. He punted. His "heart goes out to the Clark family" but he plans to "keep on talking about what the migrants have done to Springfield." Of course he does. He answers to a Higher Power.
