We're not done with the obscene visit to Arlington. This is what the felon said on his ludicrous platform: "Gross incompetence. -- 13 DEAD American soldiers, hundreds of people wounded and dead, AMERICANS and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT LEFT BEHIND. You don't take our soldiers out first, you take them out LAST, when all else is successfully done..."
He should have been at some depot laying a wreath on tanks and armored personnel carriers. Always the money comes first. Garbage in a baggy suit.
Remember the line in Animal House about the Germans attacking Pearl Harbor? Senator Blutarsky, meet Donald Trump. During a private tour of the Arizona Memorial in 2017, Trump turned to his chief of staff General John Kelly and said, "Hey, John, what's this all about? What's this a tour of?" Kelly did not resign on the spot, but neither did he allow the idiot to pose for a picture above the 2,400 entombed sailors grinning and giving a thumbs-up.
Trump often complained about the "disloyalty" of his generals, asking Kelly, "Why can't you be like the German generals?" He meant the World War II generals and refused to believe that they tried several times to kill Hitler. He won't be any happier with the forthcoming memoir of his national security adviser General H.R. McMaster. At War with Ourselves says world leaders quickly learned to outmaneuver him with flattery and treated him like a "chump." No wonder he praises despots like Xi and Putin ("very smart...top of his game"). He more or less gave China permission to annex Japanese territory, despite Japan being a US ally.
The Michigan Republicans convened this weekend and look who showed up: Ex-chair and failed candidate for secretary of state Kristina Karamo was a self-appointed delegate from Oakland County who had to be escorted out by police. She's the one who thinks Beyonce is recruiting fans to Paganism and that Trump won the 2020 election, among other things.
The Trumpoid propaganda pea-shooters have yet leave a mark on Tim Walz, so it was time to roll out the big gun. With no evidence, Tucker Carlson pronounced Walz a pervert based on his experiences at boarding school in the 1980s. "I saw that guy and I'm like, oh wow, I know exactly you're a creeper." And yet a number of Walz's players came to Chicago to support him at the convention. Either they just didn't see it or Carlson is full of shit. How long before he decides Coach Walz is the Zodiac?
Gordon Klingenschmitt achieved the near-impossible -- he was sacked as a Navy chaplain for lack of character, leadership and professional traits. Naturally, he is now casting out the "demons" inside Tim Walz, the ones making him "groom kids and abort children." How dare he be "joyful and happy"? That's the giveaway.
The Trump campaign is buying TV ads in Florida. Not just in Florida, in Palm Beach County, home of Motel a Lago. Either they want to calm the proprietor down or the "Harris for President" enthusiasm seen last month in The Villages is spreading to the rest of the state. But will Trump be able to see them through the layers of ketchup on the screen after one of George Conway's Anti-Psychopath spots?
Some judges base sentences on the defendant's remorse, or lack of it. Michael Sparks, the first January 6 rioter to invade the Capitol, was handed 53 months after saying he is only sorry the coup failed. Like Trump, they have no filter. Even Ann Coulter wants him to shut up. "The Harris campaign is demanding a rule change of NOT muting mics at the debates. Why? They're betting you won't STFU and will lose the debate -- as you did with Biden." Trump has no STFU function. It's not the condition of an old person who no longer cares what you think. He never matured past age five.
Michael Cohen is bucking the odds and thinks Trump will show up for the September debate, if only to lie. "When you see the accordion hands start going, what that means is that he's lying." Thanks, I think we already figured that out.
Today in Salon Amanda Marcotte looks at Kamala Harris's stepdaughter Ella Emhoff, the 25-year-old model and designer who doesn't even cover her tattoos. She is effortlessly triggering white supremacists, misogynists, incels and the trad-wife brigade ("women's liberation = the end of human civilization"). The political power wielded by women like Thatcher and Meloni suggests otherwise. But we can dream.
