And in conclusion

In no particular order, some items of interest: Brian Cole,  the man arrested for planting bombs at the DNC and RNC offices on January 5, 2021, has not yet entered a plea, but his attorney says he suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder as well as autism spectrum disorder and would like to be released from jail.  Given the HHS obsession with autism and Cole's statement that he planned to take part in the Trump coup the next day, he'll probably get his wish. In Florida House bill 917 would make it illegal to discriminate against patients based on vaccination status and also make  ivermectin  (horse dewormer) available without a prescription to "expand parental authority."  As hospitalizations spike due to the A-H3N2 "super flu" variant and  measles  cases are the highest in thirty years, we need to make it easier for idiots to kill themselves.  And unfortunately, their children. Trump likes nothing better than pardoning his fellow criminal...

Dark Ages 2.0

This may be the most poignant thing I have read all year. Cardozo High School  in Queens, New York, has banned cell phones and announced it to be a success.  Students are less distracted in class, move more efficiently through the halls and actually talk to one another at lunch.  There is an unexpected problem, though:  many cannot read the clocks on the walls. It's universal.  British  schools  have begun removing analog clocks from exam rooms because the students' inability to read the time increases anxiety.  Many American schools are doing the same, and Cardozo will probably follow.  I knew kids could no longer write in cursive even to sign their names, and rotary phones might as well be butter churns, but replacing beautiful clocks like the ones in old train stations with sterile digital displays saddens me more than I can say.  I-phones can, with a few taps, unlock all the information we spent hours learning in the before tim...

The days dwindle down

So....did you "enjoy what may be your last Merry Christmas!"?  I don't know what he  meant  by that barely veiled threat, either.  It was the end of a long night that began with lying to a child about how nice and clean  coal is and obviously involved a lot of pharmaceuticals.  Maybe nothing, maybe concentration camps we haven't heard about yet.  Does this look well to you? In addition, he seems to have shunt holes in both hands.  Maybe from dementedly shaking every hand within reach, as the Leavitt would say, forgetting that they work there.  Maybe they hook up two bottles at a time and periodically reverse them, as with Catch-22' s patient in white.  Who even cares?  Do the world a favor and die with the year, you malodorous pile of hamburger discharge. Where was I?  Well, Dear Leader put in a busy weekend, conveying Moscow's demands to a tired-looking President Zelenskyy and wasting his time.  Today he meets Prim...

Give us about three years

Image
I was going to speculate on how worthless a human-appearing life form has to be to ruin Christmas for an eight-year-old already on the cusp of not believing in Santa Claus, but what's the point?  Let's spend some time with good thoughts.  Vituperation will resume on Monday. Ahmed al-Ahmed,  the hero of Bondi Beach, is still recuperating in a Sydney hospital, where he was astonished when Zachery Dereniowski presented him with a check for $1.65 million dollars, $2.5 million in Australian dollars.  "I deserve it?" he asked.  Dereniowski is described as a Canadian YouTuber and social media influencer who tries to get people to be kind to one another, and who got over 43,000 people to contribute to a GoFundMe.  Al-Ahmed's medical bills are comped by the Australian people but he has two young children and can certainly use the money.   In addition, more than 20,000 Australians queued for hours to donate blood after the attack.  One man who is O-neg...

The season for unreason

I found a card that matches my mood.   Someone should tell Trump that if he airs his grievances every day, Festivus won't be special.  Over the last 24 hours we've been treated to a cornucopia of frothing rage.  Still obsessed with the 2020 election and his ass-kicking at the hands of Joe Biden, he re-Truthed a missive from a lawyer named Joshua Hall alleging that some tabulator tapes in Fulton County  were not correctly signed and demanded that Brian Kemp, Brad Raffensperger and Ruby Freeman be locked up right now!!!  Even if everything hinged on a clerical error, Georgia would not be enough to win him the Electoral College.  Also, five years have passed.  Does he want to go back in time?  Yes, he does.  Dementia. The obsession with comedians is also ongoing.  Having already proclaimed all criticism "sedition" and "treason," he's screaming for the  networks  to lose their "licenses."  "All they do is hit Trump...

A star is born

Image
Actually a lot of them.  The  Webb Telescope  just brought us this image of a black hole ten million times the mass of our sun escaping through space and leaving a trail of new stars.  It broke away from its home galaxy and is clearly enjoying itself.  Isn't the universe amazing?  And aren't we lucky that it was launched on December 25, 2021, during the Biden administration?  If NASA waited until now it would have been named for Trump and it wouldn't work anyway and that would be Biden's fault like everything else. I have a lot of problems with the internet but you have to love its sheer uncontrollability.  The Sixty Minutes segment on CECOT censored by Bari Weiss on behalf of Dear Leader has surfaced all over the place, most accessibly at  Internet Archive .  It's grueling and must be seen.  As if we didn't have enough grievances to air (happy Festivus to those who celebrate).  Thanks to the Canadian who recorded it the...

Sometimes referred to as panties

We the people continue to purchase customized transportation for the regime.  Now it's  K$H Patel  who needs a specially armored BMW to be "less conspicuous" as he accompanies his girlfriend to podcasts and PR events.  The existing FBI fleet simply won't do.  Yes, it's a German car but they're assembled in South Carolina so that's all right. At last!  Not only do we not need to fear arrest for saying "Merry Christmas" but "you don't have to apologize for being white anymore."   J.D. Vance  thrilled Turning Point USA with the good news on Sunday.  Think of the time we ofays will save!  For years I've been answering the phone "Hello, sorry to be Caucasian" in case it's someone from a call center in Bangalore who -- never mind, I may have said too much.  But wait, there's more:  Vance also broke the news that " Christianity  is America's creed, the shared moral language from the Revolution to the Civil ...

The whole world in his hands

In the amount of time the Bondi Department has had the Epstein files a very slow proofreader could have redacted every "Lord" from a King James Bible, but they haven't managed to redact the names and images of the Trump-Epstein pedophilia victims from "several hundred thousand" pages of evidence.  According to Ghislaine Maxwell go-between  Todd Blanche  they will release everything "over the next couple of weeks."  Everything happens "in two weeks" with this crew, which is to say not at all.  When you break the law 34 times (officially) without consequences, what's one more crime? Rep.  Ro Khanna  thinks there should be consequences.  The author of the Epstein Transparency Act said, "We will prosecute individuals regardless of whether they're the attorney general or a career or political appointee."  I like his nerve but as Jimmy Kimmel asked, "Who's going to arrest them, Canada?"  It's not easy to adjust...

The plaques you didn't read about: JAMES BUCHANAN was the only President who did not marry but many people have said that he was all Man.  He was from the great State of Pennsylvania and belonged to the Democrat Republican Party which no longer exists. ABRAHAM LINCOLN is considered great even though he failed to prevent the Civil War by making a Deal with the South.  There was much Violence and Killing and he made a speech in Gettysburg which has been compared to Trump's Second Inaugural.  He was over six feet Tall. ANDREW JOHNSON had the job of repairing the Country after the Civil War by restoring competent Government in the South and removing all the Troops that Lincoln had left there to cause Division between the Americans and the Blacks.  For this he was IMPEACHED even though he had bought Alaska from Russia Russia Russia.   You should see what he says about William Henry Harrison. It's hard out there for a Cabinet secretary, or the daughter of ...

What is there to add?

High winds in Guaiba, Brazil, caused their 80-foot  replica of the Statue of Liberty to crash into a parking lot.  There were no injuries.  It's a metaphor for whatever you need. Rep.  Dan Newhouse  (R-WA) is the latest Republican to announce his retirement from Congress.  Republicans who want to remain know that Trump's attitude toward the end of ACA subsidies ("Don't make it sound so bad") is the kiss of death and have signed up to force a  vote on Obamacare extensions despite the speaker's opposition, including Mike Lawler of New York and Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie and Robert Bresnahan of Pennsylvania.   They're not the only ones trying to put daylight between themselves and disaster.  Abby Spencer Moffat and Shane McCullar resigned from the board of the  Heritage Foundation  over board president Kevin Roberts's support for Tucker Carlson and his new bestie Nick Fuentes.   Mick Foley  has quit ...

It's not just me

The cold, the encroaching darkness, the end of another year, there's an appropriate acronym for what so many of us feel around this time:  SAD (seasonal affective disorder).  People who can seek out sunny beaches or buy lamps that promise to simulate sunlight because our remote ancestors lived in the savanna of Africa before migrating to places like Scandinavia.  We need warmth and light. Laughter helps.  For instance, I enjoyed this post from someone who isn't afraid to be known as an idiot: How did "Chill Bill Hick" know it was Southeast Asia and not, say, a cafe in Chinatown, yet not know Obama was having lunch with Anthony Bourdain?  Sorry, RepubliCLOWN, no points for you but thanks for making me smile. 😃 Are you concerned that the man who shot up a lecture hall at Brown University and killed two people is still at large?  Don't worry, the best people are working on it.  Rhode Island is our smallest state -- how long can it take to search ev...
