WTF?

Image
It's one thing to take a Sharpie and deface a map so the Gulf of Mexico is renamed to fluff your ego.  Nobody else has to take it seriously, as the Associated Press demonstrated, and thank you for your sensible resolve in this matter.  Threatening to murder people for trying to fly to, over or near a sovereign nation is grounds for arrest.  Since that has not happened, the United States of America is a terrorist state.   How are you?  Have you received a clearly illegal order to, I don't know,  shoot  two men clinging to the wreckage of the boat you just sank?  Because someone thousands of miles away staring at a screen and struggling to focus both bloodshot eyes at once decided they looked like drug smugglers?  The  Geneva Convention  doesn't make distinctions like that.  One day you may have reason to be grateful. Someone decided this woman looked like an "illegal."  Fortunately she was carrying ID as a membe...

Good news -- and the rest

Happy.  Brandon Bradshaw's colorful paintings of manhole covers are the toast of  Sioux City, Iowa.   Except for the city itself, which arrested him on November 4 and charged him with criminal mischief and public drinking.  Does this look like mischief? Authorities say the flowers could encourage people to create "less attractive graffiti."  Residents say they brighten a wintry place and hail Bradshaw as the "Manhole Michelangelo."  Neighboring Sac City responded by organizing its own manhole painting contest under the title "Our Town Is Cooler Than Yours."  It looks as if Sioux City will drop the charges if Bradshaw pays court costs and seeks approval before committing any more acts of beauty. Funny.  Campbell's Company fired  Martin Bally,  vice president for information technology, after a former employee recorded his opinion of the company's best-known product, canned soup.  "We have shit for fucking poor people....

The activities of the ICEstapo rarely provide cause for anything but disgust, so I won't call this good news, but there is a kind of grim satisfaction in this one.   Bruna Ferreira  was arrested for overstaying her visa and a previous arrest for battery.  She is the mother of an 11-year-old son whose father is Michael Leavitt.  Yes, brother of White House liar Karoline Leavitt.  The mother of Karolyin's nephew is facing deportation to Brazil.  I can't wait for her to be asked about it on Monday. She will be busy denying all the facts in this New York Times  article  about her boss's physical and cognitive decline.  Of course Trump has already rebutted it by calling one of the authors, Katie Rogers, "ugly both inside and out."  (Rogers is white, so he didn't add "low IQ.")  It's hard to come up to his high standards of female acceptability without extensive plastic surgery. The  Thanksgiving Proclamation  dropped...

MAGA in disarray!

One of the weirdest and therefore most amusing events of the first Trump presidency was his 2017 speech to the  Boy Scout Jamboree  in West Virginia.  Never having been a Scout or engaging socially with humans, he had no reminiscences to share, so he used the occasion to attack Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, to denounce Obamacare as "this horrible thing that's really hurting us" and to describe yacht parties with Steve Ross and William Levitt to the fascinated, somewhat confused boys.   Cut to 2025 and Obamacare credits turn out to be the only way to address doubling and tripling insurance premiums short of the unthinkable Medicare for All.  The Boy Scouts are now called Scouting America.  And  Pete Hegseth  the "Secretary of War" wants the military to sever all ties with them because they are now "genderless" and promote the dreaded DEI, and that frightens him.  For its failure to "cultivate masculine values" Scouting America ...

Life in Trumpania

Image
Today in malicious prosecutions:  U.S. District Judge  Cameron Currie  dismissed the charges against James Comey and New York attorney general Letitia James.  Meanwhile the "Department of War" announced via X that it may proceed with a court martial of Senator  Mark Kelly  for "actions intended to interfere with the loyalty, morale, or good order and discipline of the armed forces."   Last week  Sean Duffy  urged Americans to bring about a "golden age of travel" by dressing better and being courteous.  It worked!  Today the Transportation Security Administration issued a press release using the Pyongyang template:  "Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Noem, America is entering a Golden Age of Travel as record numbers of holiday travelers are taking to the skies.  The majority of TSA's Top 10 Travel Days have happened since President Trump took office..."  It's a miracle.  Not like last year's holid...

Mamdani, I just met a guy named Mamdani And suddenly my dread Of socialism all has fled Sharia It turns out to be not so frightful Just a kid from the Bronx who's delightful Mamdani I wish my boys were more like Mamdani! Well, that was strange.  But stranger things were to come.  Is Trump really trying to copy the look? He's probably never worn a turtleneck in his life.  But... It's close. Something happened in there -- we may never know what unless the Russians release their recording.  (They installed a baby monitor.)  Trump now says there's no need to send the  National Guard  to New York City.  At the post-summit press conference Mamdani was asked if he still considers Trump a  fascist and Trump interrupted, "That's OK, you can just say yes.  I don't mind."  Fascist it is.  According to  Kevin Hassett  of the National Economic Council he's also changed his mind about withholding federal funds from the city...

VM Day

Is that a salute or does his head hurt worse than usual?  The US  Whatever landed on Playa Bagdad, Mexico, yesterday and claimed it for AMERICA in English and Spanish despite the official One Language Policy of King Donald I.  First we took their Gulf and now their beach.  The landing was unopposed.  It appears that the DEI purge eliminated the people who know how to read a map and navigate. Undistinguished weekend pundit turned Secretary of Transportation  Sean Duffy  has some outside-the-box insight about the nation's airports to share.  Antiquated radar and overworked air traffic controllers are not the problem, no matter what radical left lunatics think.  Travelers have simply forgotten how to dress.  "We have unruly passengers on planes...you have passengers berating gate agents."  (Hey, Nancy Mace, he's talking about you!)  "Be in a good mood, dress up, bring civility back to travel."  Then we will see "the g...

Legal advice

Image
Satire -- how does it work?  A Facebook page called America's Last Line of Defense (ALLOD) wrote that Zohran Mamdani has effectively ended the Macys Thanksgiving Parade by demanding "$10 million to rent Fifth Avenue."  Alert readers will have noticed that Mamdani takes office on January 1, 2026, and that the parade has never occurred on Fifth Avenue.  Dull-witted readers proceeded to lose their digestive product:  "Great job, New York.  You got what you voted for," gloated one.  Another advises, "Be serious.  The man is delulu [sic]."  "The undoing of 125 years of American tradition," mourns Grizzly Greg, whose avatar is a bear in a Navy uniform.  Nobody read down to ALLOD's statement:  "NOTHING on this page is REAL."  Is it legal to fool people by appealing to their prejudices?  I need to know before I write that ZM is closing all the churches and banning the tree at Rockefeller Center. Well then, is it legal to remind m...
