A theory
I don't pretend to any special knowledge, but I woke up last night with one of those insights that make further sleep impossible. Trump called Hamas "smart."
Eight years into this national nightmare (not counting the decades he was a localized infection for New Yorkers) I know what Trump means when he calls someone or something "smart" -- either they praised him or they paid him. I have not heard Hamas praise him.
I believe as fervently as I believe anything that Hamas paid him well for intel about Israeli defense. The intel he shared with Lavrov for nothing (if installing him in the White House is nothing.)
That's probably it under Kislyak's arm. Subtle.
How did Hamas disable the alarms at the Gaza fence? A woman who lives nearby said the alarms go off "if a donkey bumps into it." That Saturday morning there wasn't a sound until the shooting started. Somebody had the schematics and knew just where to strike, and how.
Why would Trump sell out Israel? For money, the core of his existence. To get revenge on Bibi for the phone call to Biden. And because he just doesn't like Jews, whose "disloyalty" (to him) he can't stop griping about. Israeli Jews, American Jews, Brazilian Jews, antisemites don't make distinctions.
Is there a bottom to Trump's depravity? I haven't seen one. Money isn't even the determining factor, which is why a lot of random Australians know more about our nuclear Navy than the average American. He's the pre-Copernican earth around which the universe revolves. The closest thing he has to a human relationship is the one with Ivanka, the pubescent girl he was proud to be photographed while groping. Then he lost her to a Jew. It may be what Orson Welles called "dollar-book Freud" but that doesn't mean it's not accurate.
If you want to understand Trump, go to Hitler and take the elevator down. Hitler had a couple of human traits. He loved dogs and music. He would never describe the German war dead as "losers" and "suckers." That's about it, but it's more than Trump has.
The war in Israel has much greater potential to become global than the invasion of Ukraine, to which no US carrier groups have been dispatched. Putin's agents in Congress and the media carry his water daily, while only Rep. Tlaib and a few Harvard students have defied the lightning to remind us that Palestinians have real grievances. Trump is already the worst criminal in American history, so it's hard to guess how much worse things could get.
Just my opinion. I could be wrong. I hope our creaking machinery of justice is equal to the task of neutralizing the monster. If not, we are finished.
