Make it stop
Again the yellow crime scene tape. Again the sorrow.
Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner found stabbed to death in their home, apparently by their son Nick. The compassionate response:
"I don't care what your political beliefs are, that's not acceptable, that's not a solution to solving problems...I believe in the teachings of Jesus and I believe in doing unto others and I believe in forgiveness."
No, of course that wasn't Donald Trump. That was Rob Reiner talking about the murder of Charlie Kirk. What Trump had to say will make you vomit. I don't think I want it here. Not today. It's so disgusting that even Piers Morgan called for its deletion. Thomas Massie wrote, "I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they're afraid?" Good guess. In the interest of completeness here's a link.
Amazingly the FBI and Keystone K$H Patel have not solved the crimes at Brown. The "person of interest" whose arrest they celebrated last night turned out to be uninteresting and has been released. The FBI will be joined by the ATF, the DEA, the Marshals Service and others, according to the Rhode Island attorney general, so they might get lucky.
You can't expect Trump to fake compassion when he has so much on his....mind? The ballroom, the gold lettering so he can find THE WEST WING, the continued conversion of the White House into Caesars Palace-Las Vegas, the dumping of asbestos-filled waste on public golf courses where only the riffraff play. Today it's his idiotic "triumphal arc [sic]" opposite poor Lincoln's memorial. "It will be like the one in Paris but to be honest, maybe it blows it away -- it blows it away in every way." Just as his achievements blow away Napoleon's, right? And the emperor's doesn't have eagles or a tacky gold statue.
Nevertheless he tried: "Uh, Brown University. Great school, great -- really one of the greatest schools anywhere in the world. Things can happen." I didn't expect him to call for stricter gun laws like the Australian prime minister but -- what's the point? Dogs are more capable of empathy than Trump.
The atrocity at Bondi Beach continues to reverberate, apparently the work of father and son killers who swore allegiance to Islamic State. A ten-year-old girl and a Holocaust survivor from Ukraine are among the dead. Far away in London Keir Starmer warned, "This is clearly not an isolated incident" and promised extra security for Britain's Jewish community. Ahmed Al Ahmed, the man who stopped one of the shooters, is recovering in the hospital. Netanyahu is blaming the attack on Australia's support for a Palestinian state. I hope he's wrong because most of the world supports it, including the pope. And bringing up politics makes him look sleazier.
Tucker Carlson chose the wrong day to praise Nick Fuentes as "successful because of his talents" and "the obvious truth behind some of what he is saying" about white identity politics. There's no right day to celebrate Nazis but timing is everything. By the way, what talents? Does he sing? Did he have a story that made Trump laugh when he and Kanye dined at Mar a Lago?
Trump and Hague-seth are making good on their promise to disrupt international air travel. The pilot of a JetBlue flight from Curacao to New York reported that he nearly collided with a USAF refueling tanker on Friday. "They don't have their transponder turned on, it's outrageous. We almost had a midair collision up here," he told air traffic control. I hope the passengers were properly dressed.
