Prove him wrong

 "Vice president J.D. Vance cancelled plans to attend the 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York City and will travel to Utah instead to visit with the family of conservative activist Charlie Kirk."  (Washington Post)  The fascist's corpse will be flown to Arizona on Air Force 2, unless Trump orders a state funeral in Washington.

A still unknown shooter has dumped this distraction/provocation into Trump's spongy lap and he's not letting it go.  Kirk will get the wholly devalued Medal of Freedom at the same ceremony as Rudolph Giuliani.  Trump ordered flags to half-staff, as he grudgingly did when Jimmy Carter died.  The MAGA hive didn't need any hints:  Anna Paulina Luna Livia Plurabelle is already demanding a Kirk statue for the Capitol Rotunda and the party line is that he was killed by "hateful rhetoric from the left."  Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau calls for the instant deportation of "foreigners" (legal or otherwise) found "praising, rationalizing or making light of the event."  Five historically black colleges, all in the South, had to be locked down because of threats.  Capitol Police reported an "incident" at the Democratic National Committee and warned Congressional staffers to stay away.  As for Fox News, they've been at Tone Deaf Con 1 since last night.

Laura Loomer deleted a Xweet from July 13 calling St. Charlie a "charlatan" and accusing him of stabbing Dear Leader in the back because he criticized the bombing of Iran and called for the release of the Epstein file.  Now she pledges, "Charlie Kirk's death will not be in vain," because Loomer has always been at war with Eastasia.  If that cranks your Irony Meter up to eleven, Trump's sermon will make you pass liquid through your nose.  "It's long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree...in the most hateful and despicable way possible."  So far, so Chuck Schumer, right?  Wait for it:  "For years, those on the left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world's worst mass murderers and criminals.  This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country today and it must stop right now."

Like calling the schizophrenic man who killed Iryna Zarutska "an ANIMAL" who needs "a 'Quick' (there is no doubt) Trial and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY.  There can be no other option!!!"

Like suggesting a "Second Amendment solution" for Hillary Clinton.

Like calling Zohran Mamdani a "communist."

Like quoting Hitler about immigrants "poisoning the blood" of the country.

There are countless other examples but don't bother bringing up the murders of Melissa Hortman and her husband and the attempted murders of John Hoffman and his wife last June.  Trump was too absorbed in his Royal Birthday Parade to take any notice, even to the extent of phoning the governor of Minnesota because he's "so whacked out."  Also, the killer was a stone MAGA.  Even farther in the past he wasn't impressed when an arsonist tried to murder the governor of Pennsylvania and his family.  Yesterday political violence became "the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree."  

The other day I watched part of a film called Hangmen Also Die, about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, one of Hitler's vilest lieutenants, and its aftermath involving the deaths of countless Czech patriots as well as ordinary people who had nothing to do with it.  MAGA have already established a website called "Charlie's Murderers" and it's naming and doxing people the creators consider to be his critics and opponents and therefore deserving of abuse, rape and death threats and other forms of (in their eyes) legitimate retaliation.  This for one noisy podcaster -- I hate to think what would happen if a lifetime of junk food and no exercise were to catch up with...

Trump at the 9/11 ceremony this morning.  It's more than the torpor he generally displays at events that are not about him.  Some have suggested a stroke.

It's neither prudent nor rational but it's how we, alone among the developed nations, choose to do it.  Kirk was a scumbag.  He should not be celebrated.
