C for contaminated

Somerset County, New Jersey's radical left lunatic health inspectors paid a visit to the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster and found enough violations to deter even Robert Kennedy from eating there.  The place earned a score of 32 out of 100 for expired milk, improperly stored meat, a dishwasher that didn't get hot enough and handwashing stations without soap or paper towels.  "[The person in charge] fails to demonstrate knowledge of food safety," the report noted, which makes me wonder why they aren't inspecting meat for the Department of Agriculture.  Of course, it's possible that no one is.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman remains in custody in Boulder, facing 16 state charges of attempted murder and a federal hate crime charge.  The Egyptian immigrant overstayed his visa in 2022, triggering a burst of MAGA rage aimed at the Biden administration, Democrats in general and the "sanctuary state" of Colorado and a threat of instant deportation for his wife and five children, who have valid visas (punishing the family is very Stalinesque.)  The White House X account posted this artfully edited graphic -- note Pride flag on Boulder courthouse.

Until last night Missoula, Montana, had no official flag.  Then the city council voted to adopt the Pride Flag, defying a state law prohibiting flags that represent "a political viewpoint" (with an exception for the Gadsden "Don't Tread On Me" flag).  Governor Greg Gianforte predictably called it "divisive."

Fifty NATO defense ministers are meeting in Brussels today to coordinate military aid for Ukraine but the US is not represented.  Greasy Pete is too busy re-naming John Lewis-class vessels that do not honor straight white men, including the USMS Harriet Tubman, Dolores Huerta, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Lucy Stone, Medgar Evers and Cesar Chavez.  The keel-laying for USMS Thurgood Marshall has been "delayed."  This nasty and obvious bigotry is said to represent "the Commander in Chief's priorities, our nation's history and the warrior ethos," and apparently not the wishes of Navy Secretary John Phelan, who is just following orders.

Meanwhile in Trump's bedroom, where the real work of foreign policy takes place:

President Putin (of Russia!) told him "very strongly" that he will have to respond to the brilliant drone strikes that decimated his air force.  Well, duh.  Maybe he'll invade Ukraine again.  After the disastrous ship launch last month I imagine the North Korean military is going through some things, so who's going to help him?  Steve Bannon!  A few days ago he was enraged because Ukraine's raid on Russian air bases took place without Trump's knowledge.  Of course it did -- that's why it succeeded.  On Friday Lindsey Graham was in Ukraine with Richard Blumenthal, who co-sponsored a bill to put a tariff of 500% on countries that buy Russian oil and natural gas.  Ignoring Blumenthal, Bannon demanded that Graham stop "stirring things up" and come home or be arrested.

Yelling for arrests, and sometimes carrying them out, has become a national MAGA pastime since the arrest of Judge Hannah Dugan in Milwaukee.  Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark, Rep. LaMonica McIver and a staff member of Rep. Jerry Nadler were arrested for objecting to ICE's gestapo tactics.  Kayleigh McEnany wanted Scott Pelley arrested for giving a speech critical of Trump.  We haven't seen this much politicized policing since the antiwar protests of the 1970s, which rarely involved elected officials.

Another feature of totalitarian regimes is going after the lawyers who represent people like Alexei Navalny -- or Hillary Clinton.  Trump hasn't shipped high-end attorneys to El Salvador yet, but he makes life hard for former federal prosecutors who moved against him and even denies their associates security clearance and access to federal buildings, as well as ordering junk "investigations" and demanding the firms end DEI.  But law firms who appease him with free legal work don't always flourish, either -- McDonald's, Oracle and Morgan Stanley are among the companies repulsed enough to seek less craven representation.  Sources told the Wall Street Journal that "a law firm that so quickly caved to pressure from the White House couldn't be trusted to fight hard for them."  Oh my.

Trump wanted it known that Putin was on the phone for "one hour and fifteen minutes" because Xi Jinping won't even take his calls.  China does not respond to threats and bluster, unlike small, poorer countries like Vietnam which have no choice.  Xi does not care for the public humiliations Trump tried to inflict on Zelenskyy and Ramaphosa, and one Biden official says his unpredictability "poses risks reputationally for President Xi."  Which is to say Xi doesn't want to deal with TACOs.  According to the Wall Street Journal four US makers of electric cars are trying to move production to China because China is not exporting the rare earth materials they need to this country.

Let's turn to the lighter side of nutty.  I was relieved to know that Jesse Watters approves of the newest slate of Sports Illustrated swimsuit models.  "Remember back in the Biden era, all of the swimsuit models were obese."  Uh, no, I don't remember that, although SI devoted a cover to Martha Stewart.  Not obese, just 81.  Got a problem with that, Mr. Groucho Eyebrows?

Rep. Mary Miller dropped by the Tony Perkins Christian Hate Hour to report the theft of an entire month.  "The left hijacked June to present perversion, cause gender confusion and basically for individuals to be indecent in public."  Isn't that what you do?  January 6 was the most indecent thing to occur in Washington since the plane hit the Pentagon.  But really, Congresswoman, June was already pretty gay -- are you familiar with the Tony Awards?
