Enough is enough
Joe Biden, who is still president, didn't need to dip a toe into the brackish waters of "presidential immunity" to drive MAGA into paroxysms of rage. Even before the Sleazy Six dreamed it up, presidents could pardon anyone from a turkey to Richard Milhous Nixon. Biden chose to pardon his son Hunter, because he is a loving father and because there's fuck-all anyone can do to stop him. His statement is clear: "I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted...the charges in his case came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me...This has been an effort to break Hunter -- who has been five and a half years sober...In trying to break Hunter they've tried to break me, and there's no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough."
How often does a man get to express love for his son and relish the impotent screeches of the worst with one signature? My only regret is that he didn't ruin their holiday gluttony by issuing the statement last Wednesday. Trump, fresh from appointing pardon recipient Charles Kushner ambassador to France -- and won't the French, our oldest ally, welcome an ex-con to Paris? -- led the pack: "Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!" Why would it? The J-6 criminals invaded the Capitol; Hunter Biden was late paying his taxes. But you can bet your last cryptodollar there'll be no more miscarriages of Justice once this guy is running the FBI:
He calls himself K$H Patel. My hand to Shiva.
Governor Jared Polis of Colorado, who might as well switch parties now and avoid the January rush, lamented, "This is a bad precedent that could be abused by later Presidents." Ya think, Jared? Like maybe pardoning Joe Arpaio, Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, Paul "Putin" Manafort, drug trafficker Rodney Nakia Gibson, Albert Pirro (Jeanine's ex), Israeli spy Aviem Sella, Michael Flynn, Dinesh D'Souza, Scooter Libby, Conrad Black, Bernard Kerik, SEAL/war criminal Eddie Gallagher and several hundred others? Maybe Biden was influenced by all those bad precedents. After all, he's old.
Margie Greene lost all her shit, forcing her staff to collect her empty skin and re-inflate it:
And after she enlarged her favorite picture and shared it with America...
...the Georgia Neanderthal is worried about strangers looking in Melania's closet?
But -- but -- Biden promised, he promised he wouldn't pardon his son! He's a big promise breaker! They just can't wait for Pam Bondi, or whoever comes off the bench next, to prosecute him for something. Maybe for breaking a promise.
Too many Democrats have echoed the purity line on this, but (I'm sorry, Mrs. Obama) we've seen what happens when we go high: nothing. Lincoln suspended habeas corpus, a clearly impeachable offense if you're not at war; Biden pardoned his only surviving son, which the Constitution gives him the right to do. I quote Jasmine Crockett: "We know we have a 34-count convicted felon that is about to walk into the White House...this cabinet has more people accused of sexual assault than any incoming cabinet probably in the history of America." Eric Holder concurred: "No US attorney would have charged this case given the underlying facts. Had his name been Joe Smith the resolution would have been...a declination. Pardon warranted."
Joe Biden is right. There's no reason to believe it will stop here. It's just getting started. He also needs to issue pre-emptive pardons for Anthony Fauci, Jack Smith, Alexander Vindman, Cassidy Hutchinson, Robert Mueller, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney, Hillary Clinton, Ilhan Omar, Gretchen Whitmer, and everyone else who has ever drawn the wrath of the First Felon. Not forgetting Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. Do it now and ruin Christmas for the MAGAts.
