Chicago Offender

Never say I am unfair to Trump.  He got through thirty-four minutes of a scheduled hour-long Q&A with the National Association of Black Journalists without mentioning Hannibal Lecter.  Then his keepers ended the event because he was being laughed at, which always enrages him.  Someone shouted "You lie!" as if he were Barack Obama delivering a State of the Union address.  He was this close to pulling out the Word.  Because the derision and the insults were coming from a roomful of non-subservient, distinctly uppity Black people.

It was primo Trump.  He ignored their questions and ranted about being kept waiting because the sound system didn't work.  He challenged Rachel Scott to define "DEI" and she replied, "Diversity, equity, inclusion," and then he continued to ask what it meant.  He whined about being there under "false pretense" because he was promised Kamala Harris would also be there, despite having spent the last ten days havering about debating her in September.  He didn't like Scott's "horrible manner" and accused her employer ABC of being "a fake news network."  When convenient he pretended he couldn't hear Scott -- the sound system again.  (Well, he is 78.)

And guess what?  He CRUSHED IT.

In her forthcoming book Nancy Pelosi says "doctors and other mental health professionals" approached her in 2019 about Trump's "mental and psychological decline."  I believe her.  And now it's 2024.

Kamala Harris has speeded up the deterioration.  He's terrified of losing, and losing to a Black woman.  It's unpossible!  So he's wishing her away.  She's a phony who claims to be both Black and Indian.

To which the Harris War Room responded:  "You can be two things at once.  Kind of like how you are both a rapist and a racist."  Game over.

It was like watching one of those fifty-car pileups in thick fog.  "Coming from the border are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs."

Scott:  "What exactly is a Black job, sir?"

Trump:  "A Black job is anybody that has a job!  That's what it is."   You know, entry level, unskilled, low wage, wait, is this place full of college graduates?

When Scott interrupted in the middle of his "Indian pretending to be Black" segment Trump decided it was time to threaten her:  "I think somebody should look into that, too, when you continue in a very hostile and nasty tone."  Not once did she call him "Mr. President" like the great Harris Faulkner.

There was more boilerplate stupid about the superiority of "gasoline, oil, liquid gold under our feet" to electric cars and how he will bring down interest rates and inflation "so people can buy bacon again."  The pork obsession is getting a little creepy.  But he was clearly still rattled when he showed up in Harrisburg, probably gratified that people waiting for the show to start were passing out in the heat.  Some people expressed shock when he called for a moment of silence for Corey Comperatore and followed it with a "joke" ("Corey's wife said, 'I'd rather have my husband.'  Isn't that good?  I know a lot of wives that would not say that, sorry!").  Thank you, ladies and germs.  Then he introduced David McCormick, running for the Senate, as "Mr. Governor."  Most bizarrely, and the judges had to confer about this one, he boasted of having "the number one-selling mug shot in history!  It beat Elvis!"  His parents in heaven "are looking down" with pride.  I'm sure they are.

And today, well, you knew this was coming.  The prisoner swap in Ankara drove him completely bonkers, insofar as anyone can still tell the difference.  A victory for Joe Biden and no one paying attention to him?  "How many people do we get versus them?  Are we also paying them cash?...Are we releasing murderers, killers or thugs?  We never make good deals at anything but especially hostage swaps.  I got back many hostages and gave the opposing country NOTHING!"  He's too modest, or he's forgotten about the 5,000 Taliban.  Welcome home, Mr. Gershkovich, I hope you'll be more GRATEFUL that Brittney Griner.
