Inherent contempt

The daycare center for crack babies formerly known as the House of Representatives is at it again, with Anna Paulina Florida Livia Plurabelle Fettucine Alfredo pushing a resolution of "inherent contempt" against Merrick Garland because he won't give her those important recordings of Robert Hur's psychoanalysis of Joe Biden.  They've got the transcript, they had Hur, but there's something about the sound of Biden's voice that the children just find thrilling.  The resolution failed when four Republicans voted with the Democrats, while others remembered previous playdates and didn't come to the floor.  (I'm not even an old country lawyer, but I think "inherent contempt" is the kind you don't have to prove in court.)

Never afraid to look foolish, James Comer has decided to question everyone at the White House about his theory that they're really doing the president's job.  The first to have their time wasted will be Annie Tomasini, the deputy chief of staff; Ashley Williams, senior adviser; and Anthony Bernal, senior adviser to Dr. Jill Biden.  If correctly timed this could last until late October.

Margie Greene couldn't wait for the next meeting of the Comer Club.  She got up to denounce the "persecution" of Trump, Bannon and Navarro and declare that Garland's "corruption knows no bounds."  I do not think corruption means what she thinks its means, or she would support Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in introducing articles of impeachment against Sam Alito and Clarence Thomas.

Anti-vaxer and gun advocate Thomas Massie is getting a taste of the brain damage he fronts for.  His wife Rhonda recently died and he's inundated with conspiracy theories about her death, strangely similar to this one:

Massie insists that Rhonda never received the covid vaccine and that "our house is very secure," whatever that means.  He nevertheless authorized an autopsy in case Anthony Fauci slipped something into her food.  Sucks to be on the receiving end, especially when you're dealing with loss and grief.

ABC News reports that an unnamed sailor attempted to access Joe Biden's medical records while assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command at Fort Belvoir last February.  The sailor was "administratively punished" for violating the HIPAA law.  That's all?

If George Clooney thought he'd get better treatment from MAGA after supplying the New York Times with its latest Biden slur ("I Love Joe Biden, But We Need a New Nominee"), he was mistaken.  The cult leader himself took to his personal media shack to denounce him.  "So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting in on the act.  He's turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are."  Clooney, who lives in Italy, joins political experts Rob Reiner, John Cusack and Michael Douglas in deserting what they consider a sinking ship (I assume that's the reference, however clumsily expressed) and Abigail Disney says she won't contribute any more of the money she inherited from her union-busting, Nazi-admiring father.  Ouch.

Hungarian autocrat Viktor Orban has a talent for pissing off the European Union.  Just back from a cozy visit with Vladimir Putin, today he's at Motel a Lago, definitely not delivering orders from the boss.  Orban missed Biden's stirring speech to NATO leaders yesterday, where he called out Putin by name.  Meanwhile Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Ron Wyden would love to hear about Clarence Thomas's latest goody, a yacht trip to Russia and a helicopter ride to Putin's hometown.  What, no RV?  Kim got a car!

That poor horse.

What's this?  Another Russian general, Magomed Khandayev, has died unexpectedly at age 61.  By now he has already been buried.  He worked for deputy defense minister Timur Ivanov, arrested in April for that old standby, corruption.

Joe Biden met Keir Starmer in the Oval yesterday, and the entertainment was supplied by reporters yelling about George Clooney as if war had broken out.  Joe seemed to enjoy it; Keir looked a little surprised.  That's how it goes here, Prime Minister.
