Eric Trump told Maria Bartiromo that Black voters now identify with his father because so many of them are felons. "Look at the African American vote, right? That's swinging over to Donald Trump in spades." When she looked stunned he went on, "I mean they're coming out of the woodpile. They recognize that Biden has no sense of rhythm. Loose shoes, tight pussy and Trump -- that's all you need, right?"
Despite Fox Business predictions of a thousand-point drop, the Dow saluted the Trump convictions with a jump of nearly 575 points, the best day of the year. One of the rare losers was Trump Media & Technology. Capitalism, huh?
Trump has now incorporated the upside-down or "Alito" flag into his campaign videos. This has led many supporters to flock to retail outlets demanding "the flag with the stars at the bottom."
Follow the money. Pro Publica did and they were shocked to discover that nine witnesses against Trump received new jobs, large salary increases from the campaign and shares in Trump Media. Yet he was convicted on 34 counts and probably will not be indicted for witness tampering because the justice system is just sick and tired of his criming. They would like to prosecute someone else once in a while, like Weidong "Bill" Guan, CFO of Epoch Times. Guan is accused of laundering $67 million through the far-right paper, most of it stolen from Americans' unemployment benefits. Ted Cruz's favorite news source is a Chinese money-laundering operation -- my goodness. This won't help his chances of re-election, if we're lucky.
The "unprecedented" convictions failed to set off a violent response from MAGAworld, so the new dog-whistle phrase is "breaking point." How much persecution of their savior will people stand for? What will they do in the unlikely event of a prison sentence or even house arrest? Foxnik Charles Hurt has gamed it out: They lock up Trump, then his followers riot, which makes them look bad and gives the jackboots an excuse to move against them. Hurt calls it "something really diabolical." Governor Hochul has declined Dean Phillips's suggestion of a pardon, but Trump still thinks the Supreme Court, or at least the Sleazy Six, should prevent what he calls "The 'Sentencing'."
Dr. Jill Biden is being attacked for attending Hunter Biden's trial and "intimidating" potential jurors. It has nothing to do with Melania Trump's failure to appear in the same city as her husband's trial, why would you think that? If Biden's not careful, Marjorie Malaprop will strip her of the title "doctor," as she did yesterday to "Mr. Anthony Fauci." His appearance before some House committee was as demented as you would expect, with Margie expressing horror "as a dog lover" while holding up a picture of two dead dogs that did not belong to Kristi Noem and demanding that Fauci be prosecuted for "crimes against humanity." She even worked in her repudiation of evolution for the voters back in Deliverance country. Fortunately Jamie Raskin was there to tell Fauci, "You probably wish they were treating you like a convicted felon. They treat them with love and admiration. Some blindly worship them." Margie's growls and snarls were not reflected in the transcript.
Back in New York Elise "Pick Me, President Trump, Sir!" Stefanik was trying to get Justice Arthur Engoron and his clerk Allison Greenfield charged with "inappropriate bias and judicial intemperance." The state Commission on Judicial Conduct told her to take her complaint and -- find some other way to get on the ticket. (Have you thought about going blonde, Congresswoman? Maybe you should smile more. Is there a college president you haven't accused of antisemitism yet?)
As he prepares his appeal, Todd Blanche may be trying to ignore the reality of what happens to Trump lawyers. Kenneth Chesbro has been indicted for forgery in the Wisconsin fake-electors plot, while the D.C. Court of Appeals considers whether to permanently disbar Rudolph Giuliani. And before you ask, Joe Biden did not order either of these actions. Really. Unless he had himself cloned like Michael Keaton in Multiplicity he wouldn't have time for all these things. He's busy. He's trying to persuade Netanyahu to agree to the newest ceasefire before any more hostages die. He had to limit border crossings by executive order because the R-clowns blew up the bipartisan bill. India just re-elected Narendra Modi, the Hindu Hitler. Ukraine is using US Himar rockets to attack Russian targets (at last!), which will doubtless cause Putin to rattle his nukes again. Global warming continues as US infrastructure gets older and more vulnerable. It's a lot of work for an evil mastermind who barely remembers his name, my favorite example of what Orwell called "doublethink."
And "Lock her up!" has been consigned to the memory hole. If it weren't for 1984 we wouldn't know how to describe 2024.
