Make me!

Taunting and defiance are increasingly the language of the public sector.  It makes me wonder if our leaders are getting older or the rest of us are becoming more infantile.  Surprisingly often, it works.

Leonard Leo says he will not respond to a subpoena from the Senate Judiciary Committee because he's a billionaire and he doesn't have to.  The patron of far-right Supreme Court justices had the nerve to refer to "the left's dark money" in blowing off the subpoena.  Peter Navarro, who is not a billionaire, is currently in the hoosegow for defying the House Select Committee on the Trump Putsch.  Any bets on Leo joining him?

Colorado state representative Don Wilson left his loaded Glock 9mm in the capitol bathroom and never reported it missing.  A custodian found it more than twenty minutes later and it was returned to him.  No one asked the Republican, who says he takes firearm safety "very seriously," why he felt he needed to bring his gun to work.

Judge Merchan had barely signed the order to not threaten witnesses when Trump grabbed his phone and called Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen "two sleaze bags who have, with their lies and misrepresentations, cost our Country dearly!"  Hey, stupid, "sleazebags" is one word!

Mike Johnson scurried off to Florida to try and save his job by standing next to his boss and calling for a law that would forbid non-citizens from voting.  That this is already prohibited does not bother either of them; they continually lie about "millions of illegals" being dragged here by the Democrats for the purpose of voting (among other crimes).  If the bill passes, they will have to lie about something else.  Or pass a law that prohibits stealing from churches.

State senator Anthony Kern gathered some other outpatients and they prayed and spoke in tongues on the floor of the Arizona senate.  I don't know why this attracted so much attention -- Trump has been yelling gibberish for years.

There seems to be a lack of coordination at the head of the Trump campaign.  Yesterday co-managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita were demanding more debates, and that they take place earlier than September 16 when the first is tentatively scheduled.  But at the Palm Beach GoFundMe last week, Trump indicated he'd prefer to skip the voting and get straight to the revenge:  "...if it's just by the vote they could cancel that election.  We win that election right now.  We have so many more votes than they do.  But we have to be very vigilant.  We have to be very careful."  So why do you need our money? no one asked, visions of tax cuts dancing in their heads.  Dr. John Gartner's analysis of Trump's mental decline is worth a read.

Today's grift.  You cannot exchange it for $100,000 at Bank of America, Bank of Little America, or anywhere else.

These people are not waiting for the Republicans to come up with a position on abortion that will please the evangelicals, the women and the undecideds.  They are finished with the whole debate:

It says "vasectomy" but there has also been a marked increase in tubal ligations since Dobbs, because women know the onus of contraception has always fallen on them, like the threats of punishment should they seek termination.  (What politician proposes locking up men who father unwanted fetuses?)  To the white Christonationalists who thought this abomination would increase the production of "real" (i.e. white) Americans -- nice work.  Better re-read Atwood.

I'm surprised this hasn't been screamed from right-wing media:  The Biden administration won't let you have a horse-drawn caisson for burial at Arlington.  The Army suspended their use a year ago after two horses died from poor treatment.  Why does Biden hate our wonderful veterans?

The impending end of days makes people do stupid things.  (Not just Christians -- see Sabbatai Zevi.)  When it was announced for last Monday, a customer at a Florida taco restaurant distributed over a thousand dollars in tips to the staff.  Now she would like the money back, claiming that the restaurant defrauded her.  I think she has a better case against her church or the Florida school system.
